The Ukrainian Agricultural Restoration Partnership (UARP)

UARP was established to support the restoration of rural farms and homes and vastly increased humanitarian aid for all Ukrainians

A new partnership between the National Akademy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS), and Planetary Emissions Management Inc. (PEM Inc.), supports UARP. The PeaceKeeper Foundation Inc. brings the NAAS and PEM together as a non-profit endeavor.

Agriculture and food security are key to the nourishment and resilience of all Ukrainians, but productive farmland is at risk from the ravages of war and advancing climate change. These conditions threaten local, regional, and global economic commerce, a primary source of revenue for Ukraine, and food for millions worldwide. UARP will address:

• Urgent restoration of damaged agricultural infrastructure supporting families and large-scale farms, a requirement for resilience and future growth.
• Documentation of irrigation water quality, increasingly at risk due to contamination by toxic compounds leaching into rivers and streams from munitions residues, and bombed-out equipment, potentially across 18 million hectares of arable cropland.
• Immediate restoration of existing networks and deployment of new network nodes for monitoring irrigation water quality and greenhouse gas emission fluxes related to climate change, building on Ukraine’s existing assets.
• Utilization of UARP network data ensuring crop food safety for Ukrainians and international markets while also establishing a spectrum of new direct measurement  ‘air + water + agriculture’ offsets, creating additional revenue.

The Peacekeeper Foundation Inc. will provide funding to Ukraine scientists and the creation of new science programs to ensure the safety of Ukraine’s agriculture. The partnership plan is under development.
